A lassi technically is not a smoothie, more like a healthy milkshake but with the addition of milk and yogurt it can certainly pass for one. The probiotic power of yogurt forms the base of this recipe, and it’s mixed with tropical mango and tart blueberries, which give the drink its bright blue color. I have lots of other great smoothie recipes here!

I teamed up with Stonyfield to share this gut-healthy drink and used their organic plain nonfat yogurt. You all know how much I love Indian food! Whenever I go out for Indian, I always get a mango lassi. Did you know that all proteins from milk deliver the amino acid nutrients that match human requirements better than plant proteins? For this reason, they are often called the highest protein quality – and incorporating these proteins into meals and recipes gives your dish a nutritious boost!

I’ve been juicing and drinking lots of smoothies these past weeks. I am just trying to boost my immune system to keep me healthy and strong. I am also focusing on my gut health, eating lots of fermented foods, such as yogurt.

This recipe was slightly modified from the cookbook, The Smoothie Project. A cookbook filled with gorgeous, rainbow colored pages of smoothies I’ve been making and loving! I love the idea of adding frozen blueberries to a mango lassi, for extra antioxidants! The only modification I made was omitting the 2 teaspoons of honey. And since I have so many frozen berries and mango on hand now that my freezer is stocked, it’s a great way to enjoy it. If you don’t have frozen mango, frozen peaches would also be delish! This makes a really tall glass, if you wish you can split this for two servings as part of a multi-course meal.

Why is it important to choose organic dairy?

Stonyfield is a company I can trust because all of their yogurts are made without toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs. They only works with organic farms that provide optimal living conditions and low-stress lives for their cows. Stonyfield cows live in healthy, clean conditions and spend at least 120 days each year on pasture. That means preventative antibiotics are unnecessary. Happy, healthy cows mean delicious, creamy yogurt made with high quality ingredients and no harmful pesticides – a win win for everyone!

Live Active Cultures found in their yogurt

S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, Bifidus, L. paracasei, and L. rhamnosus.

  1. I am not understanding how you calculated 8pts on ww?  I calculated 5?then realized I need to mark it as a drink but that makes it 3.  I looked at the ingredients but I didn’t select any specific brands but I don’t think that would make a difference.

  2. There is a peanut allergy in my family. What would be an ideal alternative to almonds? Maybe sunflower seeds? Thank you in advance!

  3. Gina – I agree that this is missing some sweetness. The fruit on its own isn’t quite enough to balance the tartness of the yogurt. I added some liquid stevia and that seemed to help. Otherwise, the flavors are lovely.

I accidentally bought vanilla Stoneyfield yogurt instead of plain and it came out delicious! I’ve never had a lassi before and found the flavors interesting and refreshing.

  5. Smoothie wasn’t a sweet as I’d like it to be (could have been because I had Chobani on hand versus Stonybrook) but I added a Splenda packet and it was better. If I made it again I might add vanilla yogurt instead or omit the yogurt all together.

  6. Try adding a small pinch of ground cardamom for a truly authentic taste. It brings all the flavors together.
