Autumn Apple and Grape Medley

Fall Fruit Salad with Apples and Grapes

I’m usually pretty sad when summer comes to an end, but I do love the fall! Seeing the leaves change colors, apple and pumpkin picking and all the wonderful things we can do when the weather cools! This fall fresh fruit salad made with apples and grapes is the perfect fall treat. It’s light and crisp, with a mixture of flavors and textures, and requires no cooking, it’s absolutely addicting! Other apple recipes I love to make each fall, applesauce nut bread, apple butter, and apple cobbler.

Apples and grapes

What You’ll Need to Make This Easy Fruit Salad

  • Fruit: 3 cups green seedless grapes and 4 cups diced gala apples
  • Lemon juice, to prevent the apples from browning
  • Creamy dressing: Greek yogurt, light cream cheese, light agave, maple syrup, honey or brown sugar and vanilla extract.
  • For Topping: brown sugar and chopped walnuts, or pecans

How to Make Fall Fruit Salad

This fall or winter fruit salad comes together in four quick steps. I’d make it within a few hours of serving and wait to add the topping until right before.

  1. Fruit: Slice the grapes in half and cut the apples into small pieces. Drizzle lemon juice over the apples so they don’t brown.
  2. Sauce: Mix the yogurt, cream cheese, agave, and vanilla extract.
  3. Salad: Combine the fruit with the sauce and put in one large serving bowl or eight small ones.
  4. Topping: Combine the brown sugar and crushed walnuts and sprinkle over the fruit salad.

How to Serve Fall Fruit Salad

This fruit medley is the BEST FALL FRUIT SALAD! It’s so easy to whip up for dessert or snack and great for a crowd. You could serve it as a Thanksgiving fruit salad or dessert for the holidays.

Variations and Tips:

  • Fruit: Use different apples like Honeycrisp apples. Or substitute with other fruit like Bartlett pears, pomegranate seeds, or dried cranberries.
  • Make It Lighter: Skip the cream cheese and double the yogurt.
  • Use Different Nuts: Try it with pecans or almonds
  • Make it Nut-Free: Swap the nuts with hemp seeds, pepitas, or chopped pretzels.
  • Spices: Add cinnamon or nutmeg to the nuts.
  • Adjust the Serving Size: You can easily double this autumn fruit salad recipe to feed a crowd or halve it for fewer servings.

  1. Love it will make it again I only used half of the brown sugar and I used slivered almonds instead of the walnuts and I think next time I will use the brown sugar stevia blend :)) but it’s delicious:)) highly recommend

  2. McDonald’s used to have this on their menu and it was so good!  I’d forgotten all about it until I saw this. Gotta make it and I’ll bet this won’t be sickening sweet like there’s was!

  3. This was excellent.  I used cotton candy grapes as I had them on hand, and was worried it might come out too sweet but it didn’t. YUM

Made this today and it was fantastic. It doesn’t even need the nuts and brown sugar because the low fat cream cheese and non fat greek yogurt sauce is so good. You could probably use even less agave to cut down on sugar. My husband loved it. I had to warn him not to eat so much!

  6. So easy & yummy! Because I had  Neufchâtel cheese in the fridge l substituted it for the cream cheese.  Used maple syrup for the same reason. Can’t wait to make it again.

  7. This is so delicious!  I’m not a big yogurt fan, but the crisp apples and grapes, along with the topping really made it worth it.  I skipped brown sugar and sprinkled some cinnamon instead!

Also, I made this on Sunday and by Tuesday, the apples and grapes were still good!  Not mushy at all!

  8. Delicious! It’s nice to have fall flavors that aren’t something warm during 80 degree fall days in NC. I did use a vanilla oikos yogurt to keep from having to add the agave of extract.

When I saw this recipe I knew I had to have it for the birthday brunch we had this morning! Everyone loved it! I made some more so I could have it for lunches this week! Thanks for the delicious recipe!

  10. This is a perfect recipe for those grapes that are a little too sour and no one wants to eat them!  We always use up our grapes like this!
The next day it might be a little bit runny, but add a touch more yogurt amd stir it well.
We used whipped cream spread for easier stirring and I think a few less calories.  Or you can use the flavored spreads, like pecan and maple.  So yummy!

  11. Could it be done without the cream cheese? Need meals and snacks that are as low in fat as possible, so if I can take out the cream cheese, would be better.

  12. I made this tonight and it was delicious! I didn't have any grapes, so I used all apples and added some cinnamon to the walnut/brown sugar mixture. Yum!

  13. I made this for dessert last night, topped with pecans, and substituting maple syrup for the brown sugar/agave. It was totally delicious and I was amazed that my son ate a good sized helping. He is generally very fussy!

  14. I made these last week and they were so delish. It was hard not to eat the whole thing. My kids weren't crazy about it but my husband and I loved it and it satisfied my sweet tooth.

  15. Would it be okay to freeze this in individual bowls? It is just my husband and I living in our apartment, and I believe I'd be the only one eating it, so I want to put it in individual bowls, and throw it in the freezer, then I can grab it for my lunch at work, then by lunch, it would be thawed out, however, I'd hate to do this, and the apples or grapes get "mushy" or gross. Thanks

  16. Made this a week or so ago and my son and husband went nuts for it…according to my hubby…this shit is goood!!!!! make it again lol.

  17. Made this for a pre-wedding snack over the weekend for my cousins wedding, it was a hit!! I made it again today for my husband and he loved it too! Thanks for another great recipe!

  18. Gina, do you know what the carbs would be if I left off the topping? My DH has to watch carbs, but he'd love this dessert-thanks!

  19. I made this earlier this week. I really enjoyed it and limited myself to 1/2 cup for a side for my lunches limiting the points that way. Thank you!

  20. This looks awesome! If I sub in some light sour cream for the yogurt I think I have all the ingredients, assuming candied walnuts will also work as a sub for the topping. Grapes are so cheap right now.

You hear this all the time, but I love your site. I'm not on a diet per se, but it feels good to eat healthy delicious food, at least most of the time!

  21. Does anyone know how this holds up in the fridge overnight? I'm thinking of making it tonight for a party tomorrow night but I don't want it to get mushy.

  22. This looks GREAT and a perfect dish I can bring to my moms group next week! I pinned it on pintrest too! 🙂 Thanks so much!

  24. OMG!! I just made this…it was so good- that is my new breakfast! I did not have any walnuts so I used just a bit of peanut butter granola. YUM

  25. I wonder if you could make this with a Marzetti cream cheese fruit dip rather than the yogurt and sweetener. It probably mimics the taste and it's about 3 points for 2 tablespoons. I am going to definitely make an apple and grape salad today based on seeing this! I have pecans, so will use them instead of walnuts, but I can almost taste the blend of fruits now! Thanks for the idea 🙂

    Bella, they will love it!

Sarah, I'm not sure how that would change the points. You'll have to check on recipe builder.

  29. Could I use a container of WW yogurt and some ff cream cheese and lower the points that way? If so would it be only 3?

  30. looks great, can't wait to try it!! and thanks Gina for listing the amount of sodium in your recipes, it is greatly appreciated and very helpful! Sincerely, Rose
